From Practicing HTML & CSS to Working On Apps

In my most recent blog post, I talked about why I love Ruby and why it’s great for beginners. Since graduating Flatiron, I almost feel more overwhelmed now than I did when I was in the course.

Why I Love Ruby and Why It's Good for Beginners

Job Search - Struggle is REAL

I recently finished Flatiron’s full-time software engineering program! It was very challenging but I learned so much. I’m so glad I chose Flatiron because everyone in my cohort was such a pleasure to learn with and my cohort lead, Morgan VanYperen, was an incredible teacher. Everyone in the tech field so far seems really welcoming and willing to lend a hand. I feel a sense of belonging that I haven’t felt in awhile and I’m glad I decided to transition into coding.

Final Project for Flatiron School

I’ve finally completed my final project for Flatiron! I love traveling so I decided to make an application for other people who love it as well. This project was built with a Rails API and a React/Redux frontend and it was a tough one for me. Before starting, I had to review several concepts. After reviewing, I wrote out my ideas on paper. I drew out how I wanted everything to be structured, and made sure I was (mostly) organized before starting. I completed the backend quicker than the frontend because I’m much more familiar with Ruby on Rails than JS. But, I got through it and I’m super stoked about what I built.
